in oakland, i'm da lin, cbs 5. >> thank you. >>> an 11-year-old daly city boy is dead after a police chase in pasadena. joe vazquez on the accident and neighbors who are devastated by the news. joe. >> reporter: the victim, allen, is 11-year-old kendrick ing here with his family on 89th street in daly city. they are presumed still to be in southern california dealing with the aftermath of this horrible crash. the family was in southern california in pasadena on christmas day visiting relatives. as they were riding in a minivan police were chasing a suspect in an suv through the streets. the chase went a mile and less than a minute then the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a red light and smashed into the minivan. two cousins were killed including an 11-year-old in daly city. three others were badly hurt. [ crying ] >> the dad and the boy always traveled together and see them together all the time. the father was always the one taking them to school... , cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> we now know it was an 11- year-old boy from daly city that is killed in a police pursuit in pasadena on christmas day. police and fbi agents were conducting a gang sweep when they started following a car that committed a traffic violation. the suspects took off and eventually hit a minivan carrying a family from daly city. an adult and 11-year-old were killed in the car. three others in the minivan were injured, as well. four suspects are arrested and face murder charges. >>> the search is on for suspects in a gang-related shooting in south san jose last night short live before 9 p.m. in the area off serenade and lullaby drives. officers safe the suspect started an altercation with the victim, shot him and then took off. the victim taken to the hospital, no word yet on his condition. >>> apparently the smell is what led to the discovery of a ghoulish plot. two people are under arrest now for what was found in the backyard of a home on warren avenue in vallejo. it was a badly decomposed body. richard romer of alameda died two years ago at the age of 56.

of the person who killed rockies, there is a $1,000 reward. reporting from san francisco, patrick sedieio, cbs 5. >> isn't that awful? a vigil was held last night at walnut creek for a young man shot and killed during a confrontation with police earlier this week. the vigil was held outside of the hair salon where he worked. the police were called to an apartment early thursday where a woman said that banta was attacking his roommate. the police say he was armed with a knife and that they were forced to shoot. friends and family say that banta was a gentle person who must have suffered a breakdown. >> and we just don't understand how someone could have taken his life. i am sure that something happened. but how -- someone could take, he is small in stature. 5'4", 130 pounds. how threatening is that? >> family members say police have not shared any information with them about banta's death. the officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave during the investigation. >>> this morning, negotiators in the senate are still trying to forge a last-minute compromise to save all americ

:29. >>> we're following some breaking news in walnut creek. a suspect is dead after being shot by police. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is at police headquarters in walnut creek where they are going to give us an update at any time. >> reporter: th captain is here to give us an update on this officer-involved shooting. but here's a run down of what happened. earlier, we were told around 3:30 police got reports of shots fired near a home on creekside drive by las lomas high school. shortly after, officers got a 911 call of someone screaming on the line. now, we don't know who put in the call. the officers were able to respond within minutes. now, we're still unsure of the circumstances that led to the shooting but they were able to confirm some information. >> there is one suspect that is deceased. i will not release his name as of yet nor any other details. the scene is secure. and we are not looking for any outstanding suspects. >> reporter: we don't know how many shots were fired but no officers were hurt in the shooting. we know officers are at the scene gathering evidence. we are told it i
